DJ MARKET TALK: KLCI May Open Higher, Taking Cue From Wall Street

0034 GMT [Dow Jones] KLCI may open higher, helped by firmer close on Wall Street overnight (DJIA +0.6%) after Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke says recession very likely over at this point, say dealers. Benchmark tipped to trade in 1,200 to 1,220 range vs Tuesday close at 1,207.47 (+0.3%). "Finance, construction and consumer related stocks are likely to lead gains and there's a good chance the index may test a new high today, but volume traded is likely to remain fairly thin," says one dealer. "The weak local market performance is likely to continue until the end of the week as most traders may opt to reserve their position in view of the long weekend holiday," says MIMB in a report. Markets will be closed Sept. 21 and 22 for Muslim holidays.
